A Few Helpful Tips

• Hair needs to be ¼” to 1/8 “an inch to be removed. The first session we like the hair a bit longer, but once sugaring regularly we can get the hair much shorter.
• Start using coconut oil as a lotion right now, it hydrates the skin and starts to soften the follicle.
• We advise that you try to avoid making an appointment that coincide with your menstrual cycle as it is a time when you are MOST sensitive. I am not saying you can’t get sugared during this time, but you will be a lot more sensitive which means a lot more pain!
• Avoid Hot Tubs, pools, saunas, steam rooms, and, baths for at least 24 hrs. Ideally, we would love for you to wait 3 days following the treatment as the pores of the skin are wide open and there is a greater chance of bacterial infection, but we know that is sometimes not possible. 24hrs is an absolute MUST! Showering is okay.
• Absolutely no exercise for 24 hours’ following your sugaring service. If large areas (i.e., back, chest, stomach) are sugared you should wait for 3 days to exercise. We all have some natural bacteria that lives on our skin. After sugaring your pores are wide open and you will sweat bacteria into the pore working out. Exercise increases sweating/perspiration and increases the chance of break outs.
• Stay away from sugaring if you have recently had a chemical peel, microdermabrasion, a sun burn, or an open wound. I would wait at least 2 weeks giving your skin a chance to heal. We want to keep your skin smooth and healthy!
• Exfoliate, Hydrate, Repeat!!! The absolute most important tip I can share with you is you MUST do your homework. First…Exfoliate!!!! 4-5 days after your sugaring service you must start exfoliating. You can use exfoliating gloves or some type of exfoliating serum. Ten skin, PFB, or Tamara ingrown serum which you can purchase from me. Every day until your next appointment. Next…Hydrate!!! Coconut oil is truly an amazing product! It germicidal and bactericidal so you use it on your most delicate parts and its 100% safe. You get ingrown hairs for 2 reasons 1- Bacteria gets into the open follicles and causes an infection or 2-Skin grows over the follicle while the follicle is empty and then the new hair can’t get through the skin.If you do not exfoliate AND hydrate, you will get ingrowns!
